I know my blog is entitled “Lynn Looks at Reading, Writing … And Cruising,” but I also have “My Favorite Things” as a sort of byline. Sooooo, I’m now going to add on new and old favorite things as they come to mind … or in this case struck me like a lightning bolt.
Before I sound like a total techie, my getting the DroidX smartphone really isn’t my fault <g>. I had a perfectly good BlackBerry that worked fine for professional purposes and basic email and text. My son had been talking about the release date of the DroidX through Verizon for months. I absorbed the info and frankly didn’t get excited. I have/had a phone. I was fine and didn’t need something that sounded so futuristic. I wasn’t about to spend more money on a “phone.” That was THEN; this is NOW. I went with my son to pick up HIS new phone on July 15th, the release date of the DroidX. I was supportive but complacent … until I saw the phone and had it in my hot little hand. Pure lust ran through my body. Oh, wait … no … save that line for a future book <g>. Seriously, I fell in love. The store only had ONE phone, which my son was already getting. My son wanted to buy the DroidX for me as a belated birthday gift since he wanted to get the “perfect” gift. This was perfect but there weren’t any in stock. I guess I was hyperventilating and drooling on the counter too much because the salesman said one could be overnighted to me. Okay, I could almost live with that. Overnight wouldn’t be soooo bad since I wasn’t even intending to get the phone in the first place, right? It was a long 24 hours but I hung in there. I do have to confess I did yell when I saw the FedEx truck coming down the street.
I now have a DroidX of my own. Hmmmm. I need a name for my phone since I tend to name everything in order to infuse life into inanimate objects. Mr. Kindle was named by my husband for me, by the way. Any good names for my state-of-the-art, futuristic phone/multimedia center?
I cannot say enough good things about this wonderful, wonderful phone. I had a LOT to learn about the features this past weekend, but my DroidX and I are now in a great relationship. When my husband left for work, he teased that I wouldn’t know he was gone. Come on, that’s crazy. Sort of <lol>.
If you like carrying around total connectivity with all YOUR “favorite things,” check out the DroidX. It’s awesome…amazing…GREAT!!!
OH. One extra special feature is the 4.3″ size of the screen. I downloaded the Kindle app, and I can actually read on a book on here, if desired. Of course, I still love Kindle and the eInk technology, but this is NICE, too. Sigh!
Are there any other phone techies out there like me? Do you have any suggestions for a great name fo my DroidX?
What exactly does it do? I’ve heard of it…barely. :O
I guess I should first say it’s a phone because I seem to forget that. It’s a mini computer. Since it has a 4.3 inch screen and complete internet access, you can surf the web, email, etc. There are a lot of applications you can download. Kindle was my first. You can put your books, movies, music, games, etc. It’s awesome. I know a lot of phone companies have Smartphones (including BlackBerry), but DroidX is way beyond anything i’ve ever had. I feel like I’m able to stay connected wherever I go. I love technology.
I have a Verizon LG phone and recently got it connected to the Internet. With my busy blog tour schedule, I needed a way to add comments on the go. I’ve got the browsing capability but have no desire to watch tv on my computer. Where did you get the kindle ap? Is it just for the Droid or for any Verizon phone? You’re amazingly versatile with technology.
Thanks 🙂 “Necessity is the Mother of Invention”
Kindle can be read on: iPhone, Windows PC, Mac, BlackBerry, iPad, and Android. The Android application just came out, so I am very lucky. With the 4.3″ screen, I could definitely read a book on it.
All the Kindle apps are available on Amazon.
